Interviews

#InsidePeople with Bogdan Džekić

Fri-yay! Let’s start it with this summer interview, a nice melody, and a bunch of positive vibes.

Only fresh and refreshing things on our #InsidePeople plate!

We are ready to welcome the weekend but before we close our laptops, let’s take a few minutes to get to know our awesome Bogdan Džekić! He is a CloudOps support Engineer and this Friday he would like to share some interesting insights about his role, career, and teamwork in BlueGrid.

He is also eager to share some personal stuff that helps him stay in a great mood and enjoy the ride along the way.

So keep your eyes open and let’s meet Bogdan! 🙂

What is the thing you would like everyone to understand about your job?

Bogdan: CloudOps Support Engineer is not a usual Customer Service job.
There, you are working with developers on solving query and script issues that customers are facing which gives a lot of opportunities for further developing your learning and career.

What’s the most exciting part of your role in BlueGrid?

Bogdan: Well, it can be a cliché, but working on cutting-edge technology and looking at how it develops and advances each day is pretty exciting.

Do you have some sources for self-education to recommend?

Bogdan: Well, I have two “go-to” sources and those are Coursera and Udemy. They have a ton of great courses and usually, they can come with great deals and good prices. Also, getting into some groups on Twitter and LinkedIn that are related to the field you want to learn can be a great resource and give some type of road map.

What do you enjoy about working in a team? What makes a team successful?

Bogdan: People that are part of the team make a successful team. People need to make compromises, have the ability to jump in, and have the willingness to work on resolving issues even when they don’t like it, cause there will be the time you will get in a similar situation and you won’t have someone to ask for help or advice. Having someone to ask is a great help in this industry and that is also what I like when it comes to working in a team, more heads – more ways to approach an issue and find solutions.

One bird told us that you know how to sing and play guitar, therefore, what kind of music do you like to play the most?

Bogdan: It depends where I play. When I’m alone, most of the time I’ll play some blues if I want to chill or some flamenco if I’m in a good mood, but with friends, I usually go from Silvana to Nirvana.

You wanted to be a detective when you were little. So how would you describe the connection, for example, between that interest and the current Cloud Ops position?

Bogdan: Investigating issues and finding clues was always interesting to me. Looking at movies and reading books about Sherlock or Poaro is exciting. I guess that kind of thinking got me to where I am now, looking for issues in code, finding clues, and giving answers to their problems, so when I think about it now, it has a strong connection.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says BlueGrid?

Bogdan: Blue color, cozy office, and awesome people who are always there for you.

Is there any advice you would like to give to the people entering the IT industry?

Bogdan: You can’t get rich overnight, and you will never know everything. Being in this industry demands that you learn and improve yourself every day, so you need to enjoy your job.
Great thing is that IT is huge so there are tons of opportunities.
