We are looking for a full-time Senior Software Engineer / Test Automation Lead to lead the automated testing of a clinical trial platform, combining hands-on software engineering with technical leadership to build high-quality, maintainable automated tests and improve test coverage across frontend, API, and backend services.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the augmented test-automation team and the US-based engineering team
- Lead and mentor the test-automation team as it scales to include an additional 3–4 mid-level developers
- Come up to speed on the prioritized platform functionality and associated testing requirements
- Learn and work with the existing Playwright-based end-to-end test framework and individual backend service test frameworks
- Review QA, UAT, and production bug escapes as part of onboarding and ongoing test-improvement activities
- Work closely with customer support and QA teams to analyze bug escapes in real time
- Develop automated tests to reproduce reported bugs and confirm implemented fixes
- Write automated tests to address coverage gaps across priority platform functionality
- Develop and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright
- Develop and maintain backend and service-level automated tests
- Enhance end-to-end and backend test frameworks with reusable helpers and common shared code
- Improve test-development efficiency by introducing AI-based capabilities into the automated testing frameworks
- Establish and promote engineering and test-automation best practices, coding standards, and review workflows
- Maintain code quality through peer reviews and technical lead approval
- Coordinate effectively with distributed engineering resources across time zones and maintain meaningful overlap with US working hours
Requirements
- Strong hands-on software engineering background with experience in quality engineering and test automation
- Strong Python development skills, with a focus on backend and API-layer testing
- Experience working with React in frontend and end-to-end testing contexts
- Hands-on experience authoring end-to-end automated tests with Playwright
- Experience with backend and service-level testing frameworks such as PyTest
- Hands-on experience testing applications and services at the API layer
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience, including leading, mentoring, and coordinating a small distributed engineering team
- Experience establishing engineering and test-automation best practices, coding standards, and code review workflows
- Ability to work with meaningful overlap with US working hours
- Experience introducing AI-assisted tooling into test development
- Experience working with regulated, clinical-trial, or healthcare software
- Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken
