Distributed Edge Compute Case Study

About Macrometa

Macrometa is a globally distributed Edge computing platform that puts the “real-time” into managing and processing real-time data. The proprietary serverless architecture and globally distributed, low-latency server network mean it has never been easier to deploy real-time applications and APIs.

The Challenge

Macrometa’s customers rely on PhotonIQ, their AI-powered web performance platform, to improve SEO, Core Web Vitals, and site reliability. However, many clients struggled with performance bottlenecks in dynamic pre-rendering and had difficulties integrating PhotonIQ pipelines with their existing infrastructures. These issues slowed adoption, limited the platform’s impact, and risked undermining business outcomes like search visibility and conversion rates.

How We Helped

Knowing Macrometa’s architecture and current support challenges helped the two leadership teams quickly map out a growth plan for the new team.

The next step was building the team. People with a solid technical and support background feel comfortable using the latest advancements in the Edge Computing space. But also mindful of what it means to deliver bespoke support & customer experience with every interaction.

Macrometa also looked at BlueGrid.io to help set up a 24/7 rotation schedule, have proper coverage, and keep a healthy work-life balance for the team. To stay on track and support Macrometa’s growth, we had to make sure that the team is truly scalable, measuring against Macrometa’s growth pace.

Service Domains

  • Debugging complex client issues by tracing performance bottlenecks in dynamic pre-rendering workflows, ensuring that pre-rendered content was delivered consistently to both crawlers and end-users.
  • Collaboration with Macrometa’s developers, using NodeJS (TypeScript) and Rust to design and optimize integration pipelines that connected PhotonIQ seamlessly with customer environments (including CDNs, APIs, and backend services).
  • Created proof-of-concept solutions and reusable templates, enabling client engineering teams to deploy PhotonIQ faster and with fewer technical hurdles.
  • By acting as a trusted technical advisor, we translated client business requirements, like improving SEO rankings or handling traffic surges, into concrete technical implementations.

The Results

  • Improved Web Performance: Clients achieved measurable gains in Core Web Vitals and faster page loads thanks to optimized pre-rendering pipelines.
  • Higher SEO Impact: With dynamic content reliably crawlable by search engines, customers saw significant improvements in discoverability and organic traffic.
  • Faster Adoption: Integration pipelines built in Node.js and Rust reduced onboarding friction, accelerating time-to-value for new PhotonIQ customers.
  • Stronger Client Relationships: By combining technical troubleshooting with solution engineering, he helped position Macrometa not only as a technology provider but also as a strategic partner in solving customer problems.

Added Value to the Client

  • Understanding high-level business goals as well as technical challenges to align talent with business & tech needs.
  • Leveraging BlueGrid.io’s previous experience in building Support teams to create a schedule with the proper coverage and work-life balance.
  • Short-listing and staffing members through frictionless interviewing and onboarding processes.
  • Creating the right work environment for launching a new team, setting up a training cadence for the latest team members to have swift platform adoption.
  • Organizing learning opportunities through workshops and courses.
  • Supporting back-office processes through Legal and Payroll support.
